Bill Clinton coming to Richmond

By Lisa Vorderbrueggen
Contra Costa Times

Former President Bill Clinton is coming to Richmond on Oct. 21 to deliver the keynote speech at the first Blueprint for Healthy Communities Summit sponsored by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

It may be the first official visit to Richmond by a former or sitting U.S. president. Longtime resident, air district board member and county Supervisor John Gioia could not recall another one.

But Clinton doesn't come cheap.

The district will have to raise $150,000 for his speaking fee, most likely through corporate sponsorships.

"We are confident we will be able to secure sponsorships to cover President Clinton's speaking fee," wrote air district Executive Officer Jack Broadbent in a Wednesday afternoon email to his board members.

The invitation-only summit at the Craneway Pavilion on the Richmond waterfront will focus on the links between land-use planning and improved public health.

The air district was the among the first in the country to require communities to analyze the effects of development on public health.

The event will feature workshops to help elected officials, public health directors, city staffers and others comply with the new regulations.

Major Qigong Sept 25 Workshop Event with Master Mingtong Gu Awakens Vitality for Healthier 21st Century Living

Richmond, CA (PRWEB) August 24, 2011

Master Mingtong Gu will show participants how to have energy and enthusiasm for all the things that matter in their lives. In six hours, on September 25, he will teach the wisdom of ancient Qigong and help participants craft a daily practice for home or work to thrive in the 21st Century. This event costs $44 (tickets purchased before Sep 20/ $55 after Sep 20) runs 11am to 5pm and will be held in the East Bay at the spacious waterfront Craneway Pavilion in Richmond, CA. Ticket info: http://www.chicenter.com or 707-347-6489.

Guests go home with a practice routine that is easy to follow. The added bonus of a Sound Healing Event included in the ticket, uses ancient sounds by Qigong Master Gu with guest musicians to awaken vitality, joy and wellness right away.

As a top, internationally known Qigong master, Mingtong will share the qi wisdom that has been passed between masters for 5000 years and shared with people in need. The World Qigong Congress named him World Qigong Master of the Year. “Qigong is a daily mind-body practice that opens your ability to recover vitality, joy and wellness through gentle, non-invasive means,” he said. “Qigong belongs in everybody’s fitness routine at every age to prevent illness and support recovery." Leading wellness professionals have talked about Qigong, including Dr. Oz who said on the Oprah show: ”If you want to be healthy and live to 100, do Qigong.” He also added that Qigong reverses the aging process.

“Through practice, the right and left brain and upper and lower body start to talk again—quick thinking, resilience, and abundant energy can return at any age,” Mingtong Gu stated." Even for the new student, the Qigong movement and meditation quickly builds flexibility, clarity and strength."

Students report profound results through dedicated practice in classes or retreats with Master Gu at the helm. “I went from being a cancer survivor with limited energy to being well, and having my mind, body and entire life revitalized,” Chi Center student Gina Thompson said.

Master Gu founded the Petaluma Chi Center and its Workshops and Retreats based on his training at the largest Qigong medicine-less hospital in China, where people with exhaustion, stress, heart conditions, cancer or back pain came to learn how to reverse the aging and illness process. “Qigong grew so popular, because students quickly realized the mind was just waiting to be woken up to take care of health and joy,” Master Gu said.

About the Chi Center:
Master Mingtong Gu is an internationally recognized teacher of Wisdom Healing Qigong. Master Gu is the founder of the Chi Center, which offers regional events, classes, retreats and online programs for the public, professional wellness practitioners and Qigong teacher training. He is the author of publications, including Wisdom Healing Qigong and Sound Technologies. Master Gu received his Qigong training from grandmasters in China and Tibet and at the world's largest Qigong medicine-less hospital in China. Founded in China over 5000 years ago, the Qigong practice improves energy and wellness through gentle movement, meditation, sound and visualization. The Chi Center is based at the Earthrise at IONS retreat center in Petaluma, CA.
